Itchen Abbas and Avington Village Hall has a Premises Licence which permits the following licensable activities between the hours of 10.00am and midnight daily:
- performance of plays
- exhibition of films
- indoor sporting events
- live and recorded music
- dance performances
- supply of alcohol (see below)
The maximum number of people permitted to attend such licensed events is 250.
Whilst the premises are in use for licensed activities involving the playing of music, no doors or windows on the outside of the premises are to be left open.
Supply of alcohol
Itchen Abbas and Avington Village Hall is subject to the provisions of the Licensing Act 2003. The hall’s Premises Licence covers the supply of alcohol at functions by sale or otherwise between the hours of 10.00am and 12.00 midnight every day except Good Friday and Christmas Day.
This means that you don’t need to apply for a licence to supply alcohol at your functions in the hall … unless you are planning to sell it.
However, if you are hiring the hall and wish to sell alcohol at your event – even if you are just including the price of the alcohol within the ticket price, for example – then you must tell the Hall Manager when making a booking and you must also complete the sale of alcohol form. This form then needs to be returned to the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS), currently the Naked Grape in Alresford, at least a week before your event.
This is in order to ensure that the Designated Premises Supervisor, who is legally responsible for overseeing the sale of alcohol on the Village Hall premises, is aware of the intended sale of alcohol.
Although you are free to run your own cash bar, there are several mobile bar companies on the ‘Useful links‘ page who will be happy to do this for you, including The Plough, the lovely pub next door to the hall!
